About
Cheno works with steel and creates her own material to create a singular language (keys, humans, chains, hands, ladybirds …) tackling various themes: mythology, philosophy, poetry, dance, human condition, paying tribute to Leonard de Vinci and Dante. Metal waste is transformed and reused. Cheno invented an imaginary, poetic and infinite world.
The iron lace becomes a feather, symbolising the imaginary, the parallel world and unstoppable time. Their weak balance is a reminder of the precarity of the human condition. Her pieces are of all sizes: from the monumental (over 4 meters) to the tiny (jewellery), and can be paintings, bas-reliefs, triptychs or polyptychs, sculptures to wear (Theatre, Opera), sacred art objects, furniture etc.
All her sculptures are unique and can be placed outdoors. Cheno creates them alone in her workshop, using several techniques with iron, often close to silver work, metal fusion and arc welding. Her creations are produced in themed series, in which the ladybird has gradually become a signature.
Cheno has two permanent Sculpture Gardens close to his studio, including the Blue Garden, which can be visited by appointment.
Over the last two decades, Cheno has had many solo exhibitions in the PACA region: Nice (Parc Phoenix, 34 monumental sculptures over 3 years), La Gaude (Coupole), Carros (Permanent exhibition - Médiathèque and Salle Juliette Greco), Monaco (Jardin Exotique), Saint Paul de Vence (Biennale, Collégiale), Villefranche (Chapelle Sainte Elizabeth) and collective exhibitions; but also abroad (Liechtenstein, Italy, Japan, and even Korea).
Over the last two years, Cheno has held several exhibitions: in 2022 at the Bellet Festival, at the Atelier de Beaulieu sur Mer, at the Galerie des Dominicains, at the Tourette Levens Arts Festival and the Gravis Art Gallery in Nice. In 2023, at the Messe des Artistes and the Festival des Arts, the Atelier de Beaulieu sur Mer, Disting'Art and the Nice Art Expo.
